Possible Causes
Open broil heating element, Burnt broil element terminals, Loose broil wiring harness, Failed broil relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool before working near the broil element.
- Step 1 – Inspect broil element: Open the oven door and visually inspect the upper broil element for cracks, breaks, or burn spots.
- Step 2 – Access rear terminals: Pull the oven away from the wall, unplug it, and remove the rear panel. Locate the broil element terminals and check for loose or burnt connections.
- Step 3 – Test element: Disconnect one wire from the broil element and measure resistance with a multimeter. A typical reading is 10–40 Ω. Replace the element if open.
- Step 4 – Check wiring: Inspect the broil circuit wiring from the element to the control board. Repair any damaged wires with high-temp connectors.
- Step 5 – Control board: If the element and wiring are intact, the broil relay on the control board may have failed. Replace the control board if no voltage is supplied to the broil element during a broil command.
Warning: Do not attempt to bypass safety circuits to force the broil element on; this is a fire and shock hazard.
