Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Failed main control temperature circuit, High-limit thermostat stuck closed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker immediately if the oven overheats or will not shut off.
- Step 1 – Allow cooling: Let the oven cool completely before working on it.
- Step 2 – Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear panel and locate the oven temperature sensor harness. Check for melted insulation or wires touching the metal chassis.
- Step 3 – Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A reading near 1080 Ω is typical. A very low reading (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor that must be replaced.
- Step 4 – Check harness continuity: With the sensor disconnected at both ends, test each wire from the sensor connector to the control board connector. Repair any shorts or opens.
- Step 5 – Replace control if needed: If the sensor and wiring are good, the control board's temperature circuit may be defective and require replacement.
Warning: Do not use the oven until the cause of F10 is corrected; overheating can damage cabinetry and create a fire hazard.
