Possible Causes
Warped door latch from high heat, Failed door lock motor, Stuck lock switch, Control not receiving lock feedback
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the oven to cool completely; the door will not unlock while the cavity is above a safe temperature.
- Step 1 – Wait and power cycle: Turn off the breaker for 5 minutes, then back on. Sometimes the control will reset and unlock the door once the temperature sensor reads cool.
- Step 2 – Gentle door pressure: With power off, gently push in and pull out on the door while trying the unlock function (when power is restored). Do not force the door.
- Step 3 – Manual release (advanced): On some models, you can access the lock mechanism by removing the top panel and manually moving the lock rod to the unlock position. Consult the service manual.
- Step 4 – Replace lock assembly: If the lock motor or switches have failed, the entire lock assembly should be replaced.
Warning: Do not pry the door open with tools; this can damage the glass and hinges.
