Possible Causes
Failed door switch, misaligned door pressing on switch, broken switch actuator, wiring fault between door switch and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any trims or panels.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for bent hinges or warped door that may prevent the switch from being actuated.
- Locate the door switch: On many Smeg ovens, the door switch is located behind the front frame near the top or side, actuated by the door when closed.
- Test the switch: Remove the front trim as needed to access the switch. With a multimeter, test continuity while pressing and releasing the switch. It should change state (open to closed or vice versa). If it does not, replace the switch.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the switch to the main control board for breaks or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Reassemble and test: After replacing or adjusting the switch, reassemble the front trim, restore power, and confirm that the interior light and heating functions operate without Er07.
