Possible Causes

Tripped safety thermostat, open-circuit main heating supply from control board, faulty function selector switch (on knob models), broken wiring to elements

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the mains and allow the oven to cool.

  • Check timer/clock: Ensure the clock is set and not in automatic or delayed start mode. Many Smeg ovens will not heat if the timer is not correctly set to manual.
  • Inspect safety thermostat: Access the top or rear of the oven and locate the safety thermostat. Press the reset button if present. Test continuity; replace if open when cold.
  • Function selector (knob models): Remove the control panel and inspect the function selector switch for burnt contacts or broken cam. Test continuity across the appropriate terminals in each position. Replace the switch if faulty.
  • Check wiring and board output: Inspect the harness from the control board to the elements. If all wiring and thermostats are good, the main control board may not be supplying power to the elements and may need replacement.
