Possible Causes
Failed circular (fan) element, failed bottom element, weak or cycling thermostat, inaccurate temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and let the oven cool before accessing elements.
- Test each function: Try conventional bake, fan bake, and grill separately. Note which modes heat properly and which do not. This helps identify which element is faulty.
- Inspect elements: Visually check top, bottom, and circular elements for damage. Replace any element with visible breaks or burn marks.
- Check element continuity: Use a multimeter to test each element for resistance. Replace any open-circuit element with the correct Smeg part.
- Verify sensor and thermostat: If all elements are good, test the NTC sensor and compare actual temperature with an oven thermometer. Replace the sensor or thermostat if readings are inaccurate.
