Possible Causes
Worn convection fan motor bearings, loose fan blade, foreign object contacting fan, noisy cooling fan motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool before accessing fans.
- Identify noise source: Run the oven briefly (if safe) and listen to determine whether the noise comes from inside the cavity (convection fan) or from the top/rear (cooling fan).
- Check convection fan: Remove the rear internal panel and inspect the fan blade. Tighten the retaining nut if loose and remove any debris. Spin the blade by hand; grinding or wobble indicates motor wear.
- Check cooling fan: Access the top or rear of the oven and inspect the tangential fan. Ensure mounting screws are tight and blades are not rubbing against the housing.
- Replace noisy motor: If bearings are worn or noise persists, replace the affected fan motor with a Smeg-compatible unit.
