Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Melted harness insulation, Moisture in sensor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool.

  • Inspect harness: Remove the rear panel and inspect the sensor wiring for melted insulation or contact with metal surfaces. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Test sensor resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. A very low reading (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
  • Dry connectors: If moisture is present in connectors, dry thoroughly and apply a small amount of dielectric grease to protect contacts.
  • Re-test: Restore power and test oven operation. If F31 persists with good sensor and wiring, the control board sensor circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
