Possible Causes

Intermittent short in oven temperature sensor, Damaged sensor insulation causing short to chassis, Loose sensor harness connection that opens/closes with heat expansion, Failing electronic oven control sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool.

  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the oven's rear panel to inspect the sensor wiring. Look for melted insulation, pinched wires, or signs of arcing to the metal chassis.
  • Wiggle test: With power off, gently move the sensor harness while checking continuity with a multimeter. If continuity drops in and out, replace the harness or sensor as needed.
  • Replace sensor if suspect: If the sensor shows unstable resistance readings when warmed slightly (e.g., with a hair dryer) or when flexed, replace it.
  • Check control board: If sensor and wiring are solid but F4 persists, the EOC may be intermittently misreading the sensor. Inspect for heat damage and replace the control board if necessary.
