Possible Causes
Open or shorted upper oven temperature sensor (RTD), Damaged sensor harness or connector, Faulty main control board (EOC), Loose wiring at control board sensor terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels or accessing wiring. High voltage is present inside the oven.
- Power reset: Turn the oven off at the breaker for 5 minutes, then restore power and try a bake cycle again. If E01 returns, continue.
- Access the temperature sensor: Open the oven door and locate the temperature sensor probe on the rear wall (usually upper left or upper center). Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector.
- Check connections: Inspect the sensor connector for corrosion, heat damage, or loose pins. Reseat the connector firmly. If the wiring is brittle or burned, it should be replaced.
- Test the sensor (if you have a multimeter): With the oven still disconnected from power, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance across the sensor leads. A typical Sub-Zero oven RTD should read around 1080 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If the reading is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
- Inspect harness to control: If the sensor tests good, trace the harness back to the main control board behind the control panel. Check for pinched, cut, or burned wires and reseat the connector at the board.
- Replace parts as needed: If wiring and sensor are good but E01 persists, the main control board (electronic oven control) is likely faulty and should be replaced. This repair may be best handled by a qualified technician due to live-voltage testing and programming requirements.
