Possible Causes

Failed oven cooling fan motor, Blocked or restricted cooling air path, Faulty fan speed sensor or tach feedback (if equipped), Defective main control board fan driver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.

  • Listen for fan operation: When the oven is powered (before shutting off for service), note whether the cooling fan runs at all or is excessively loud.
  • Access the cooling fan: Typically located behind the rear panel or above the oven cavity. Remove the oven from the cabinet if necessary, following the installation manual, and remove the rear cover to expose the fan assembly.
  • Inspect fan blades and housing: Check for obstructions (insulation, wiring, debris) preventing the fan from turning. Clear any blockage and ensure the fan spins freely by hand.
  • Test the fan motor: With power disconnected, check the fan motor wiring and connector. If you have a multimeter, test for continuity across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
  • Check wiring to control board: Inspect the harness from the fan to the control board for damage or loose connections. Reseat connectors.
  • Control board diagnosis: If the fan motor and wiring are good but E05 persists, the fan driver circuit on the main control board may be faulty. Replacement of the control board is recommended.
