Possible Causes
Loose harness between UI board and main control, Damaged communication cable, Faulty user interface board, Defective main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing control components.
- Access controls: Remove the control panel trim and gently pull the panel forward to expose the user interface board and wiring.
- Inspect connectors: Locate the multi-pin harness between the UI and main control. Disconnect and reconnect each connector, ensuring a snug fit.
- Check for damage: Look for pinched, cut, or heat-damaged wires along the harness path. Replace the harness if any conductors are compromised.
- Board substitution: If wiring is intact, replace the user interface board first (often the more common failure). If E17 persists, replace the main control board.
