Possible Causes
Failed cavity or control area thermal sensor, Inoperative cooling fan, Blocked ventilation around oven, Faulty control board temperature monitoring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
- Check installation clearances: Ensure the oven has the required ventilation space around it as specified in the installation manual. Blocked vents can cause overheating and E20.
- Verify cooling fan operation: When the oven is hot (before shutting off power), listen for the cooling fan. If it does not run, follow cooling fan diagnostic steps (see cooling fan fault scenarios).
- Inspect thermal sensors: Some models have additional thermal sensors near the control area. Access the top or rear of the oven and inspect these sensors and their wiring for damage.
- Replace faulty components: Replace any failed cooling fan motors or thermal sensors. If all hardware is good, the control board may be misreading temperature and require replacement.
