Possible Causes

Weak bake element, Failing temperature sensor (RTD) reading high, Poor door seal causing heat loss, Control board out of calibration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before testing elements or sensors.

  • Verify with thermometer: Place an oven-safe thermometer in the center of the cavity and run the oven at 350°F for at least 20–30 minutes. Compare actual temperature to the setpoint.
  • Check door gasket: Inspect the door seal for gaps, tears, or hardened sections. Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it pulls out easily in multiple spots, replace the gasket.
  • Inspect bake element: Look for cold spots or uneven glow (on visible elements). Test resistance; a significantly higher resistance than spec can indicate a weak element.
  • Test temperature sensor: Measure sensor resistance at room temperature and compare to spec (~1080 Ω at 70°F). Replace if out of range.
  • Adjust calibration (if available): Some Sub-Zero models allow temperature offset adjustment in the settings menu. Adjust by small increments (e.g., +10°F) and retest.
