Possible Causes
Worn or damaged touchpad membrane, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Moisture intrusion behind control panel, Failed control panel assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
- Dry moisture: If the issue started after heavy cleaning or a spill, allow the control area to dry for several hours with power disconnected.
- Reseat ribbon cable: Remove the control panel screws and gently pull the panel forward. Disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and control board.
- Test keys: Restore power and test each button. If certain keys still do not respond, the control panel/touchpad assembly is likely defective and should be replaced.
- Inspect for damage: Look for cracks in the overlay or signs of wear on frequently used keys.
A non-responsive keypad cannot be repaired at the component level; replacement is the standard fix.
