Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from power at the breaker before removing any panels. Electronic boards can be damaged by static; avoid touching circuitry directly.
- Power reset: Turn the circuit breaker off for 5 minutes, then restore power. If F1 returns immediately or within a few minutes, continue below.
- Check for stuck keys: With power on, press each keypad button one at a time. If any key does not respond or feels stuck, the touchpad is likely shorted.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Turn power off. Remove the control panel screws from the front or top trim. Gently pull the panel forward to access the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the electronic oven control (EOC). Reseat the ribbon by unplugging and firmly reconnecting it. Look for corrosion, burns, or kinks.
- Dry moisture: If the panel shows signs of moisture (from steam or cleaning), allow it to dry fully for several hours with power disconnected. Do not use heat guns directly on the panel.
- Replace faulty component: If F1 persists after reseating and drying, replace the control panel/touchpad assembly or the electronic oven control board as a matched set per Summit’s parts breakdown for your model. Label and transfer each wire one at a time to the new board.
If you are not comfortable working around live wiring or removing the control panel, contact a qualified appliance technician.
