Possible Causes
Stuck or shorted keypad button, Damaged touchpad membrane, Loose keypad ribbon cable at control board, Failed control panel assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
- Check for stuck keys: With power on briefly, press each key individually. If any key does not click or respond, note its position. Turn power back off.
- Access keypad ribbon: Remove screws securing the control panel trim. Gently pull the panel forward to expose the flat ribbon cable connecting the keypad to the electronic oven control.
- Clean and reseat: Disconnect the ribbon cable, inspect for corrosion or contamination, and gently clean the contacts with a soft, dry cloth. Reinsert the ribbon fully and evenly.
- Test operation: Restore power and test the keypad. If F7 returns or keys remain unresponsive, the touchpad membrane is likely defective.
- Replace control panel/touchpad: Order the correct control panel/touchpad assembly for your Summit model. Transfer any brackets or bezels from the old panel to the new one and reconnect the ribbon cable.
Avoid spraying cleaners directly on the control panel; apply cleaner to a cloth instead to prevent future keypad failures.
