Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Check for fan operation: During a normal bake cycle, you should hear the internal cooling fan running (on models equipped). If the fan never runs, suspect a fan or control issue.
- Inspect vents: Ensure that the oven’s front and rear ventilation openings are not blocked by cabinetry, foil, or debris. Clear any obstructions and allow adequate clearance per the installation manual.
- Access cooling fan: Remove the rear panel of the oven (or top panel on some wall ovens) to access the cooling fan assembly. Check that the fan blades spin freely and are not obstructed.
- Test fan motor: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace the cooling fan motor if defective.
- Check high-limit thermostat: Locate the high-limit thermostat or thermal cutoff mounted on the oven body or near the control area. Test for continuity; if open at room temperature, replace it.
Do not bypass safety thermostats. If you are unsure of the correct components, consult the unit’s wiring diagram or a professional technician.
