Possible Causes

Open or burned-out bake heating element, Loose bake element terminals, Burned wiring at bake element, Failed bake relay on electronic oven control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and verify the oven is cool before touching any internal components.

  • Visual inspection: Remove oven racks and inspect the lower bake element. Look for breaks, blisters, or burn spots along the element.
  • Check connections: Remove the rear panel or access cover to view the bake element terminals. Ensure wires are firmly attached and not burned. Repair any damaged wiring with high-temperature connectors.
  • Test element: Disconnect at least one wire from the bake element and measure resistance across the terminals. A typical reading is 15–40 Ω. If the circuit is open (infinite resistance), replace the bake element.
  • Control relay check: If the element tests good and wiring is intact, the bake relay on the electronic oven control may not be energizing. With power on and extreme caution, a technician can test for voltage at the element during bake. If no voltage is present, replace the electronic oven control board.

Do not operate the oven with exposed or damaged wiring. If you are not comfortable with electrical testing, contact a professional.
