Possible Causes
Open or shorted oven temperature sensor (RTD), Damaged sensor wiring harness, Loose sensor connector at control board, Failed EOC sensor input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before testing or replacing parts.
- Locate the sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the thin metal probe (usually at the upper rear wall). Remove the mounting screws and gently pull it forward to access the connector.
- Check connections: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated and the wires are not burned or broken.
- Measure resistance: With the sensor unplugged and oven at room temperature, use a multimeter to measure resistance across the sensor leads. A typical Thermador sensor should read around 1050–1100 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If reading is far off or open/shorted, replace the sensor.
- Inspect harness and board: If the sensor tests good, check continuity from the sensor connector to the control board. Repair any damaged wiring. If wiring is good, the EOC is likely faulty.
- Replace parts as needed: Install a new oven temperature sensor first. If E2 persists, replace the EOC.
