Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Stuck-closed relay on EOC, Cooling fan not running causing overheating, Blocked oven vents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
- Visual inspection: Check that oven vents (usually at the top front or rear) are not blocked by foil, pans, or cabinetry modifications.
- Check cooling fan operation: During a bake cycle, the internal cooling fan should run. If it does not, inspect the fan motor, wiring, and fan relay on the control board (power off before touching).
- Test the sensor: As with E2, measure the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature. A significantly low resistance indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
- Control relay check: If the oven continues heating after being turned off, a relay on the EOC may be welded closed. In this case, replace the EOC immediately and do not use the oven until repaired.
- After repair: Clear the error by disconnecting power for several minutes, then test with a moderate temperature bake.
