Possible Causes
Failed convection fan motor, Obstructed fan blade, Faulty convection relay on control board, Broken fan wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before removing the oven's rear or interior panels.
- Confirm mode: Ensure you have selected a convection mode (e.g., Convection Bake) and not standard bake.
- Listen for fan: During convection operation, you should hear the convection fan motor. If not, proceed to inspection.
- Access fan: Remove the rear interior panel inside the oven cavity to expose the convection fan and shroud.
- Check for obstructions: Make sure no screws, foil, or debris are blocking the fan blade. Spin the blade by hand; it should move freely.
- Test motor: From the rear of the oven, disconnect the fan motor leads and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
- Inspect wiring and control: If the motor tests good, check wiring continuity to the control board and test the convection relay output (requires live testing by a qualified person). Replace the electronic oven control board if the relay is not energizing.
