Possible Causes
Open broil element, Loose or burnt broil wiring, Failed broil relay on control board, Faulty selector or function switch (on knob-style models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker before removing panels or touching wiring.
- Inspect broil element: Look at the broil element at the top of the oven cavity for visible damage or breaks.
- Continuity test: Access the rear of the oven, disconnect the broil element leads, and measure resistance. Replace the element if it reads open.
- Check wiring and terminals: Inspect the broil element terminals and wiring harness for heat damage or loose connections. Repair as needed.
- Control or selector switch: On Thor Kitchen ranges with mechanical selector knobs, test the oven function selector switch for continuity in the broil position. Replace if defective.
- Control board relay: If all else checks good, replace the electronic oven control board due to a failed broil relay.
