Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Stuck bake relay on control board, Miscalibrated control, Door not sealing causing sensor misread
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool before servicing.
- Verify with thermometer: Place an oven thermometer in the center of the oven and compare actual temperature to the set temperature.
- Test sensor: Remove and measure resistance of the oven temperature sensor. Replace if resistance is significantly lower than spec at room temperature.
- Inspect control board: Look for signs of a welded or burnt bake relay on the electronic oven control board. Replace the board if the relay contacts are stuck closed.
- Check door seal: A leaking door can cause hot air to escape and confuse the sensor. Replace a damaged oven door gasket.
- Adjust calibration: Use the control's calibration feature to reduce the set temperature offset if the oven consistently runs hot by a small margin.
