Oven will not heat; display works, interior light works, but temperature never rises above room temperature in any mode.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power by unplugging it or switching off the circuit breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before working inside.
- Check heating element visually: Remove the rear cover (freestanding) or back panel (built-in) to access the main heater. Look for blisters, cracks, or burn marks on the element used in Toshiba ovens (typically a circular or U-shaped element at the rear or bottom).
- Test element with a multimeter: Disconnect the element terminals. Set the meter to resistance (Ω). A healthy Toshiba oven element is usually between 15–60 Ω. If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω (short), replace the element.
- Inspect wiring and connectors: Check the harness from the PCB to the heater for burnt insulation, loose spade connectors, or discoloration. Repair or replace damaged wires using high‑temperature oven wire.
- Check thermal cut-out / safety thermostat: Locate the thermal cut-out on the rear or top of the cavity. Test for continuity. If open and not resettable, replace it with the correct Toshiba-rated part.
- Relay/PCB check: If the element and wiring test good, the heater relay on the Toshiba control PCB may be faulty. Look for burnt solder joints or pitted relay contacts. PCB repair is advanced; replacement of the control board is usually recommended.
If you are not comfortable working with mains voltage or removing the oven from its cabinet, contact a qualified technician.
