Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock latch, Misaligned door striker, Faulty lock position switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the lock mechanism. Do not force the door.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the door latch area for food debris or bent metal preventing the Toshiba lock hook from engaging. Clean and gently straighten minor bends.
- Test lock motor: Access the lock assembly (usually at the top front of the oven). With power off, disconnect the motor and measure resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor; replace the lock assembly.
- Check lock switch: Many Toshiba locks have a microswitch to confirm locked position. Test for continuity when the lock is manually moved to the locked position. Replace the switch or entire lock if it does not change state.
- Door alignment: If the door is sagging, the striker may not line up with the lock. Adjust door hinges or replace worn hinge arms.
Do not bypass the lock for self-clean; the oven reaches very high temperatures and must be securely locked for safety.
