Possible Causes
Grease buildup on elements, Food debris on cavity surfaces, Failing insulation or wiring overheating, Foreign object near heater
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you see heavy smoke or flames, turn off the oven and breaker immediately and keep the door closed.
- Inspect and clean cavity: Once cool, remove racks and clean the Toshiba oven interior with a non-caustic oven cleaner. Pay special attention to areas above and below elements.
- Check elements and wiring: With power off, inspect elements for attached grease or foil. Remove any foreign objects. Look for darkened or melting insulation on nearby wires.
- Run a test cycle: After cleaning, run the oven empty at a moderate temperature for 20–30 minutes with good ventilation to burn off residues.
- Persistent burning smell: If the smell persists and you see no contamination, have a technician inspect for overheating insulation or wiring.
