Damaged touch membrane, Contamination (grease, moisture) on touch panel, Cracked ribbon cable from keypad to PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Clean the panel: Wipe the front glass or plastic touch surface with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid excessive moisture around the edges.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the control panel and check the flat ribbon cable for kinks, cracks, or corrosion at the connectors. Reseat the cable firmly.
- Check for moisture ingress: If the oven was recently cleaned with excessive water or steam, allow the control panel to dry completely (several hours) before retesting.
- Replace keypad: If specific keys remain unresponsive and E12 persists, replace the touch control panel / keypad assembly designed for your Tristar oven.
After replacement, test all keys and confirm that E12 no longer appears.
