Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before accessing thermal safety devices.
- Locate thermal fuse: On many Tristar ovens, a one-shot thermal fuse is mounted on the top or rear of the oven cavity, in series with the heating elements.
- Continuity test: Disconnect the fuse and test it with a multimeter. An open reading indicates it has blown.
- Investigate cause: Before replacing, check for blocked ventilation, failed cooling fan, or running the oven with incorrect installation clearances.
- Replace fuse: Install a new Tristar-rated thermal fuse with the same temperature rating. Do not bypass or substitute with an incorrect part.
After replacement and correcting any airflow issues, test the oven. If the new fuse blows again, further diagnosis of overheating causes is required.
