Possible Causes
Shorted NTC temperature sensor, Pinched sensor wires touching chassis, Moisture ingress in sensor probe
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the oven before inspection.
- Visual inspection: Access the rear of the oven and locate the sensor wiring. Look for crushed insulation, melted spots, or wires touching the metal chassis.
- Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance at room temperature. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a short. Compare to Tristar's specified value; a very low resistance means the sensor is defective.
- Check for moisture: If the oven recently experienced steam cleaning or heavy spills, the sensor probe may have moisture inside. Even then, a persistently low resistance usually requires replacement.
- Replace sensor: Install a new Tristar NTC oven sensor, routing the wires away from sharp edges and hot surfaces. Secure with original clips or cable ties.
Restore power and test. If E2 returns with a new sensor and good wiring, the main control board's sensor circuit is likely faulty and may need replacement.
