Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Heating circuits carry high current and can cause severe shock or burns.
- Check elements visually: Inspect the top (grill) and bottom elements inside the cavity for breaks, blisters, or burn marks. A visibly broken element must be replaced.
- Access rear terminals: Remove the rear panel to access the terminals of the main oven element. Look for burnt connectors or discolored wires. Replace any overheated spade terminals and trim back damaged wire.
- Continuity test: With wires disconnected, measure resistance across the element terminals. A typical Tristar oven element reads 20–60 Ω. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Check control board relay: If the element tests good, inspect the main PCB for a burnt heater relay (darkened area, cracked solder joints). Resolder cracked joints if minor; otherwise replace the main control PCB.
After replacing the faulty component, reassemble, restore power, and test a low-temperature bake cycle to confirm normal operation and that E3 is cleared.
