Possible Causes
Worn function selector switch, Grease or debris in knob shaft, Damaged knob or shaft splines
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing knobs or front panels.
- Remove knobs: Pull the knobs straight off the shafts. Clean the area around the shafts to remove grease and debris.
- Inspect selector switch: From inside the control panel, check the function selector switch for broken detents or melted plastic. If the shaft is loose or does not index properly, replace the function selector switch.
- Lubricate lightly: If the switch is mechanically sound but stiff, apply a small amount of high-temperature-safe lubricant to the shaft (avoid electrical contacts).
Reinstall knobs and verify smooth operation and correct function selection.
