Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Stuck heater relay on control PCB, Failed mechanical thermostat (on analog models)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the oven and disconnect power immediately if overheating occurs. Risk of fire is present.
- Test sensor: With power off, measure the NTC sensor resistance at room temperature. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor; replace the oven NTC sensor.
- Inspect control board: Check the heater relay on the main PCB for welded contacts. If the relay contacts are stuck closed, the elements may stay on continuously. Replace the main control PCB.
- Check thermostat (manual models): On knob-controlled Tristar ovens, a mechanical thermostat may be used. If it does not cycle off, replace the oven thermostat.
After repair, verify temperature accuracy with an oven thermometer before normal use.
