Possible Causes
Spilled food or grease on elements, New element protective coating burning off, Overheated wiring or insulation near elements
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good ventilation in the kitchen. If you see heavy smoke or suspect electrical burning, turn off power immediately.
- Initial burn-in: For new Tristar ovens or recently replaced elements, run the oven empty at 200–220°C for 30–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing residues, following the user manual.
- Clean interior: Once cool, remove racks and clean the cavity, especially around elements and the bottom panel, to remove baked-on grease.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the rear panel and check for melted insulation or burnt smell near the elements and terminal block. Replace any damaged wiring harness sections.
If the smell is distinctly electrical and persists, discontinue use and have the oven inspected professionally.
