Possible Causes

Open bake element, Loose or burned bake element connections, Failed bake relay on EOC, Open thermal cutoff in bake circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before servicing. Use insulated gloves when handling metal parts.

Steps:

  • Inspect the lower bake element for visible damage such as cracks, breaks, or burn spots.
  • Remove the element mounting screws and pull the element forward to access the rear terminals.
  • Disconnect the wires and test resistance across the element. A typical Viking bake element reads 15–40 Ω. Replace if open.
  • Check the wiring harness for signs of overheating or loose spade connectors; repair as needed.
  • Locate any inline thermal cutoff or high-limit thermostat in the bake circuit (often on the rear panel). Test for continuity; replace if open.
  • If all components are good, the EOC bake relay may be defective and the control board should be replaced.
