Possible Causes
Weak broil igniter, Blocked broil burner ports, Faulty gas safety valve for broil circuit, EOC broil ignition control fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas and power before servicing. Avoid using open flames to test for gas leaks.
Steps:
- Inspect the broil burner and clean any clogged ports with a soft brush or compressed air.
- Observe the broil igniter during a broil attempt. If it glows weakly or intermittently, replace the broil igniter.
- Test the gas valve coil for the broil circuit for proper resistance. Replace the gas valve if the coil is open or out of range.
- Check wiring from the EOC to the igniter and valve for continuity and secure connections.
- If components test good but F21 persists, the EOC broil ignition circuit may be defective and the control should be replaced.
