Possible Causes
Aging oven temperature sensor, Loose sensor mounting causing poor contact with cavity air, EOC calibration drift, Poor electrical ground
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the sensor or control panel.
Steps:
- Verify actual oven temperature with a reliable oven thermometer placed in the center of the cavity.
- If the displayed temperature differs by more than 25°F from actual, check the sensor resistance at room temperature and at a known elevated temperature (e.g., 350°F) using a thermocouple and multimeter. Replace the sensor if readings are out of spec.
- Ensure the sensor is firmly mounted and not bent away from the airflow.
- Many Viking EOCs allow user calibration (offset). Follow the user manual to adjust the temperature offset if the sensor is good.
- If calibration cannot correct the issue, replace the EOC.
