How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel.
- Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then ON. If F5 returns immediately when pressing keys, suspect the keypad.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the back cover of the control panel. Carefully unplug and reinsert the flat ribbon cable between the keypad and control board. Clean contacts gently with a soft, dry cloth if corroded.
- Check for stuck keys: Press each key individually and feel for proper travel. If any key feels stuck or unresponsive, the touchpad membrane is likely defective.
- Replace interface: Replace the control panel/touchpad assembly or user interface board as specified for your Whirlpool model. Transfer any brackets and seals from the old panel.
