Possible Causes
Failed door latch motor, Misaligned door latch, Faulty door latch switch, Harness issue between latch and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the latch assembly.
- Check door alignment: Inspect the door and latch strike for bending or misalignment. Adjust hinges or strike plate if the latch does not fully engage.
- Manual latch test: With the top or rear panel removed, manually move the latch arm to the locked and unlocked positions. It should move smoothly without binding.
- Electrical test: With power OFF, disconnect the latch motor and switches. Use a multimeter to check motor winding resistance (not open) and verify switches change continuity when latch is moved.
- Replace latch assembly: If the motor is open or switches are defective, replace the complete door latch/lock assembly. Reconnect all rods and harnesses as originally routed.
