Possible Causes
Burned-out oven light bulb, Faulty oven door switch, Failed light relay on control board, Loose light socket wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before replacing bulbs or working on wiring.
- Replace bulb: Remove the glass light cover inside the oven and replace the bulb with the correct Whirlpool-rated oven bulb (high-temperature rated). Do not use a standard household bulb.
- Test door switch: Locate the door switch (usually in the frame). Press it by hand; you should hear a click. Test continuity with a multimeter. Replace the oven door switch if it does not change state.
- Inspect socket and wiring: Check the light socket for corrosion or burns and verify wiring connections are tight. Replace the light socket if damaged.
- Control board: If bulb, switch, and wiring are good, the light relay on the electronic oven control board may be faulty.
