Whirlpool
Oven temperature calibration or sensor drift
Oven temperature is consistently too hot or too cold compared to the set temperature.

Possible Causes
Aging oven temperature sensor, Control board calibration offset, Poor rack placement or airflow, Door gasket heat loss
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use caution when working around a hot oven.
- Verify with thermometer: Place an oven-safe thermometer in the center of the oven and run a 350°F (177°C) bake cycle for at least 20–30 minutes. Compare the reading to the set temperature.
- Adjust calibration: Many Whirlpool ovens allow temperature calibration via the settings menu. Adjust the offset (e.g., ±30°F) according to your user manual to match the actual temperature.
- Check sensor: If the error is large or inconsistent, test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature (~1080–1100 Ω). Replace if out of spec.
- Inspect door gasket: Check the door gasket for gaps, tears, or flattening that could cause heat loss. Replace the oven door gasket if damaged.
