Oven shows F13 during or after a pyrolytic self-cleaning cycle
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the oven to cool completely and disconnect from mains before inspection.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Check installation clearances: Ensure the oven has the ventilation gaps specified by Zanussi. Overheating during pyrolytic cleaning can trigger F13.
- 2. Inspect cooling fan: Confirm the cooling fan runs strongly during normal operation. Replace if weak or noisy.
- 3. Locate pyrolytic sensor: Some models have a dedicated high-temperature sensor or thermostat for pyrolytic mode, usually on top of the cavity. Inspect wiring and connectors.
- 4. Test sensor/thermostat: With power off, measure resistance of the pyrolytic sensor or check continuity of the high-limit thermostat. Replace if open-circuit or out of specification.
- 5. Reset thermostat (if applicable): Some high-limit devices are resettable; press the reset button if present.
Warning: Do not run a pyrolytic cycle again until the cause of F13 is identified and corrected; extreme temperatures are involved.
