Possible Causes

Overheated oven cavity, Sensor reading out of range at high temperature, Cooling fan not operating, Control board misreading sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before troubleshooting.

  • Step 1 – Allow full cool-down: Leave the door open and wait until the oven is at room temperature. Restore power and see if E2 clears.
  • Step 2 – Check cooling system: Confirm that the internal cooling fan runs during and after cooking. If not, inspect the fan motor, wiring, and fan relay on the control board.
  • Step 3 – Inspect installation: Ensure the oven has proper ventilation per Zline installation instructions. Overly tight cabinetry or blocked vents can cause overheating.
  • Step 4 – Test sensor at temperature (advanced): If possible, compare actual oven temperature with a reliable oven thermometer. If the control shows E2 at normal temperatures, the sensor or control may be misreading. Replace the sensor first; if the issue persists, replace the control board.

Warning: Repeated over-temperature conditions can damage internal wiring and insulation; do not continue using the oven until the cause is resolved.
