Possible Causes
Defective meat probe (if used), Probe jack shorted or open, Damaged probe wiring harness, Faulty probe input on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing any internal probe wiring.
- Step 1 – Remove probe: If a meat probe is plugged into the oven, remove it and inspect the plug and jack for grease, moisture, or damage. Clean gently and dry thoroughly.
- Step 2 – Try without probe: With the probe removed, restore power and see if E4 clears. If it does, the probe itself may be faulty.
- Step 3 – Test probe (if applicable): Measure resistance across the probe terminals. Compare to Zline specifications. Replace the probe if open, shorted, or out of range.
- Step 4 – Inspect jack and wiring: If E4 persists with no probe connected, the jack or internal wiring may be shorted. Access the jack from the rear or side panel and inspect for damage.
- Step 5 – Replace affected component: Replace the probe jack assembly or control board if the fault is traced to those components.
Tip: Always insert and remove the probe gently to avoid damaging the jack.
