Possible Causes
Loose or damaged ribbon cable between touch panel and control, Faulty touch panel, Faulty display/control board, Moisture intrusion into control area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
- Step 1 – Dry and clean: If the error appeared after cleaning, allow the control area to dry completely. Do not spray cleaners directly on the panel.
- Step 2 – Reseat ribbon cable: Remove the control panel cover and locate the flat ribbon cable between the touch panel and the control board. Carefully disconnect and reconnect it, ensuring it is straight and fully inserted.
- Step 3 – Inspect for damage: Look for cracks, kinks, or burn marks on the ribbon cable and corrosion on the connectors.
- Step 4 – Replace faulty component: If reseating does not resolve E5, replace the touch panel assembly first. If the issue persists, replace the display/control board.
Note: Handle ribbon cables gently; they are easily damaged by bending sharply.
