Possible Causes

Failed oven cooling fan motor, Blocked cooling air vents, Faulty fan relay on control board, Over-temperature thermostat tripped

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before working near any internal components.

  • Step 1 – Listen for fan operation: When the oven is turned on (before the error appears), you should hear the internal cooling fan start. If it does not, suspect a fan or relay issue.
  • Step 2 – Check vents: Inspect the front and rear ventilation openings for obstructions (foil, insulation, cabinets too tight). Ensure there is proper clearance per Zline installation instructions.
  • Step 3 – Access cooling fan: Remove the rear panel of the oven (with power OFF). Locate the cooling fan motor. Spin the fan blade by hand; it should turn freely without grinding.
  • Step 4 – Electrical test (advanced): With power OFF, check continuity of the fan motor. An open motor indicates it must be replaced. Also inspect wiring from the control board to the fan.
  • Step 5 – Replace faulty parts: Replace the cooling fan motor if it is seized or open. If the fan is good but never receives power, the fan relay on the control board may be defective and the control board should be replaced.

Note: Overheating due to a failed cooling fan can damage the control board and surrounding cabinetry; do not ignore this fault.
