Possible Causes
Weak hot surface igniter, Clogged burner ports, Failed gas safety valve, Insufficient gas supply pressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas and power before removing burner or igniter components. Ventilate the area if you smell gas.
- Step 1 – Observe igniter: In bake mode, look through the oven bottom panel (or remove it) to see the igniter. It should glow bright orange. If it glows weakly or not at all, it may not be drawing enough current to open the gas valve.
- Step 2 – Clean burner: Remove the bake burner and clean the ports with a soft brush or compressed air. Ensure the igniter is correctly positioned near the burner holes.
- Step 3 – Replace igniter: If the igniter glows but the burner never lights, replace the bake igniter with the correct Zline part. Do not touch the new igniter element with bare fingers.
- Step 4 – Gas valve and pressure (professional): If a new igniter does not solve the issue, a technician should test the gas valve and supply pressure.
Warning: Repeated ignition attempts without flame can cause gas buildup. Stop and ventilate if ignition fails.
