Possible Causes

Insufficient pellet feed during startup, Wet or poor‑quality pellets, Igniter weak or failing, Excessive ash in fire pot

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the grill off and unplug it. Allow it to cool before cleaning.

  • Step 1 – Clean fire pot: Remove grates and drip tray. Vacuum all ash from the fire pot and surrounding area. A clean fire pot is critical for reliable ignition.
  • Step 2 – Check pellets: Empty the hopper and inspect pellets. Discard any that are swollen, soft, or crumbly. Refill with fresh, dry ASMOKE‑compatible hardwood pellets.
  • Step 3 – Prime auger: With the grill empty and cool, run a prime cycle (or run on Smoke with grates removed) until pellets just begin to fall into the fire pot, then stop. This ensures adequate fuel at startup.
  • Step 4 – Verify igniter: Start the grill and look for the igniter to glow red within a few minutes. If there is no glow or heat, replace the hot rod igniter.
  • Step 5 – Retry startup: Reassemble the grill and attempt a normal startup. If ErP1 persists despite clean fire pot, good pellets, and a working igniter, inspect the auger motor and controller for intermittent operation.
