Possible Causes
Pellet hopper ran empty, Pellet bridging in hopper, Excessive wind blowing into fire pot, Combustion fan slowing or failing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the controller to Shutdown and keep the lid closed for 10–15 minutes before opening.
- Step 1 – Check pellet level: Open the hopper and refill with dry pellets if low. Break up any pellet bridging with your hand or a wooden stick.
- Step 2 – Inspect fire pot: Once cool, remove grates and drip tray. Verify the fire pot is not overflowing with pellets or ash. Vacuum as needed.
- Step 3 – Shield from wind: If cooking in strong wind, reposition the grill or use a windbreak. Wind can blow the flame out and trigger ErP2.
- Step 4 – Check fan performance: Listen for the combustion fan. If it sounds weak, intermittent, or noisy, inspect and clean the combustion fan motor. Replace if it fails to maintain speed.
- Step 5 – Restart cook: After correcting pellet and airflow issues, restart the grill and monitor temperature for 15–20 minutes.
