Possible Causes
Auger jammed with pellets or debris, Auger motor failure, Sheared auger motor pin or coupler, Loose auger motor connector at controller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before working near the auger or hopper.
- Step 1 – Confirm no pellet movement: Start the grill and observe the fire pot (with grates removed). If no pellets drop after several minutes, the auger is not feeding.
- Step 2 – Empty hopper: Remove pellets from the hopper to expose the auger.
- Step 3 – Check for jam: Remove the auger motor cover and attempt to rotate the auger shaft by hand. If stuck, remove the motor and pull the auger out to clear compacted pellets and resin.
- Step 4 – Inspect motor and coupler: Check that the motor shaft and auger coupler are intact and not stripped. Replace the auger motor or coupler if damaged.
- Step 5 – Test after reassembly: Reinstall the auger and motor, reconnect wiring, and run a prime cycle to verify proper pellet feed.
